Position Overview:
We are seeking a Transportation Engineer with 2-3 years of experience and a strong interest in Traffic Operations and TSMO (Transportation Systems Management & Operations). This role will focus on supporting the optimization of transportation network performance, safety, and reliability through advanced traffic management strategies, intelligent transportation systems (ITS), data-driven solutions, and transportation policy development.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement TSMO strategies, including traffic signal optimization, incident management, active traffic management (ATM), work zone management.
Analyze transportation system performance using traffic data (Bluetooth, probe data, crash data, signal performance metrics) and develop recommendations for improvement.
Work closely with state DOTs, MPOs, local agencies, and regional partners to develop integrated transportation solutions.
Develop policy documents to mainstream TSMO within public agencies.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
EIT certification preferred
2-3 years of experience in traffic engineering, traffic operations, or TSMO.
Familiarity with traffic engineering and simulation software (e.g., Synchro, VISSIM, HCS, AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation).
Interest in ITS design, traffic signal systems, and advanced traffic management strategies.
Basic knowledge of MUTCD, FHWA TSMO frameworks, and local/state design standards.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
