Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Traffic Engineer with a strong background in Traffic Operations and TSMO (Transportation Systems Management & Operations) to join our dynamic team. This role will focus on optimizing the performance, safety, and reliability of transportation networks through advanced traffic management strategies, intelligent transportation systems (ITS), data-driven solutions, and transportation policy development.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement TSMO strategies, including traffic signal optimization, incident management, active traffic management (ATM), and work zone management.
Analyze transportation system performance using traffic data (Bluetooth, probe data, crash data, signal performance metrics) and develop recommendations for improvement.
Work closely with state DOTs, MPOs, local agencies, and regional partners to develop integrated transportation solutions.
Manage budgets, schedules, and deliverables for traffic operations and TSMO projects.
Develop policy documents to mainstream TSMO within public agencies.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Transportation Engineering, or related field (master's preferred).
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or the ability to obtain within 6 months.
Minimum 5 years of experience in traffic engineering, traffic operations, or TSMO.
Experience with ITS design, traffic signal systems, and advanced traffic management strategies.
Knowledge of MUTCD, FHWA TSMO frameworks, and local/state design standards.
Excellent communication and client-facing skills with a collaborative mindset.
